THE CANNON FILM COMPANY is an independent development & production company and worldwide entertainment consultant with an international reach.
Based in the North of England, The Cannon Film Company is focused on developing innovative projects from new and established filmmakers. The company is a team of highly motivated and experienced professionals with expertise in project development, production, marketing and sales.
Founded by Richard Albiston after working extensively with acclaimed producer and Academy Award® nominee Menahem Golan, he is now joined by a young and diverse team of creatives bringing a new vision of motion picture creation and production to the industry. The company’s mission is to package and produce high-quality and commercial feature films for worldwide sale. The Cannon Film Company represents international sales for both its own slate and third party product.
Since its inception, The Cannon Film Company has actively sought out exceptional creative talent to collaborate with unique and distinctive motion pictures, encompassing astonishing action sequences with riveting characters and bring them to the screen. The company’s slate is moving forward with a diverse selection of projects from new and emerging talent.
Leadership
RICHARD ALBISTON – MANAGING DIRECTOR
Richard Albiston founded The Cannon Film Company in 2014. For many years, he under the tutelage of internationally renowned director, producer, writer and multi-Academy Award nominee Menahem Golan, creating screenplays such as Allan Quatermain and the Jewel of the East, Return of the Delta Force, American Ninja Apprentice and more. He has also worked with noted independent producer Ovidio G. Assonitis in various capacities including managing AONE Highway Film Investments UK. He has written and will executive produce the upcoming sequel EMBRYO: Beyond the Door and continues to work with several major film studios and international independents across a variety of projects.
From 2016-2020, he sat on the creative board of The Great Northern Creative Festival/Expo as Creative Producer and ran its ‘Expo Education’ arm, encouraging school aged children into further studies in the creative arts. As part of the New Vision Group, he co-wrote, produced and directed the 2011 independent feature film Something Evil, Something Dangerous: New Moon Rising. The film was released in a limited theatrical run in the UK and enjoyed more success on DVD. He associate produced the 2016 British thriller, Bastion, as well as produced The Great Northern Creative Show, a syndicated magazine show to accompany 2017 edition of The Great Northern Creative Festival on That’s TV!
In 2023, Richard oversaw the worldwide distribution of the psychological thriller The Renata Road and is developing Something Evil, Something Dangerous… Is Out There! in conjunction with Barbary Shore Pictures. He holds a BA & a MA from the University of Central Lancashire and is currently undertaking studies towards a PhD in Film Development & Distribution Models at Lancaster University.
NAOMI STROMIRE – DIRECTOR OF CREATIVE AFFAIRS
Naomi Stromire joined The Cannon Film Company in 2016 where she serves as the Director of Creative Affairs. Prior to her current role, Naomi was a co-founder of The New Vision Group with Richard Albiston and in 2011 produced the successful feature film, Something Evil, Something Dangerous: New Moon Rising and oversaw the development of additional horror films Zombie and Trauma. Outside of film production, Naomi is a passionate artist and is the founder of Illumine Designs.
In her role at The Cannon Film Company, Naomi has shaped the creative direction of the company and overseen a diverse development slate of projects across several genres including Prying Eyes, Devils Don’t Say Thanks and Something Evil, Something Dangerous… Is Out There! She graduated from the University of Cumbria with a degree in Drama and Creative Writing in 2010.
